Biography : Emraan Hashmi is an Indian film actor, born on 24th March 1979 to Anwar Hashmi and Mahira Hashmi. He is the nephew of Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt & cousin of Pooja Bhatt & Alia Bhatt. Emraan studied at Sydenham College, Mumbai and University of Mumbai. Emraan worked as an assistant director with Vishesh Films before making his acting debut. Emraan got married to Parveen Shahani on December 2006.

In 2003, he made his acting debut with Vikram Bhatt's Footpath & was praised for his performance by critics. In 2004, he was seen in Anurag Basu's thriller Murder which did extremely well at the box office. His next release was Anurag Basu's Tumsa Nahin Dekha which did not do well at the box office. In 2005, Emraan starred in Mohit Suri's Romantic Thriller Zeher, Aditya Datt's romantic film Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Vivek Agnihotri's crime thriller Chocolate & as a supporting actor in Mohit Suri's thriller Kalyug. In 2006, his first release was Anant Mahadevan's thriller Aksar alongside Udita Goswani and Dino Morea. He, then, appeared in Anurag Basu's Romantic Thriller Gangster which was a huge success & recieved good reviews by critics.

In 2007, he starred in Mohit Suri's romantic thriller Awarapan which was a success at the box office. In 2008, he was seen in Kunal Deshmukh's Jannat. The film was a commercial success. In 2009, Emraan appeared in Mohit Suri's supernatural horror film Raaz – The Mystery Continues & Kunal Deshmukh's Tum Mile. Raaz – The Mystery Continues did well at the box office but Tum Mile was a complete failure. In 2010, he appeared in Milan Luthria's Action-Drama film Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai & Mohit Suri's thriller Crook. His performance in Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai was praised by critics. In 2011, he did three films Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji, Murder 2 & The Dirty Picture. Both Murder 2 & The Dirty Picture were commercially successful.

In 2012, he was seen in Jannat 2, Shanghai, Raaz 3D & Rush. His performance in Shanghai was praised. In 2013, he did Ekta Kapoor and Vishal Bhardwaj's supernatural thriller film Ek Thi Daayan & Raj Kumar Gupta's Ghanchakkar opposite Vidya Balan. Both failed to impress the audience. his upcoming projects include Karan Johar's Ungli, Kunal Deshmukh's Raja Natwarlal, Ekta Kapoor and Karan Johar's film Badtameez Dil, Mohit Suri's Hamari Adhuri Kahaani & Vikram Bhatt's Mr. X.
