Mardaani is the boldest movie till date under the YRF banner. Pradeep had directed Rani in Laaga Chunari Mein Daag too. Obviously the topic is hot and portraying it on a bigger screen is a bigger responsibility for any filmmaker.
Rani plays Shivani Shivaji Rao, a fearless and courageous Senior Inspector from Mumbai Crime Branch. On the whole, Mardaani is relevant, powerful and inspiring with a top notch performance by Rani Mukerji.
Story: Shivani Shivaji Roy played by Rani who is trying to find a girl named Pyari whom she had rescued and put in a shelter home. But Pyari and many other girls like her get caught in the murky web of human trafficking.
Amidst all this, Shivani gets a call from the mafia kingpin- Walt (Tahir Bhasin) who warns her to stay away but hardly giving any heed to the threatening words, she takes this personally and challenges Walt that he will be caught within 30 days.
Performances: Rani not only offered a power-pact performance with her strong acting skills, but the Bengali beauty exhibited some high-flying action stunts too.
Tahir Bhasin as a merciless ace criminal minded keeping a mask of a regular guy next door is brilliant. His character is cruel yet smart and Tahir displays that quality with his brilliant act.
Music: Music by Shantanu Moitra is good; however, it’s the background score by Karthik Raja which leaves more impact.
Tumko Nahin Chhodoongi is sensitive and emotional, the lyrics convey anger and frustration but also inner strength that the female gender possesses.
