Biography : Richa Chadda born on 18 December 1988. is an Indian actress who has repeatedly garnered accolades through her consistent portrayal of unconventional characters in what is often sighted as off-beat cinema.
Reports indicated Chadda was born circa 1982 or circa 1987. She was brought up in Delhi, India, to a Punjabi Hindu father and a Bihari mother. Her father owns a management firm and her mother is a professor at PGDAV College of Delhi University, who has authored two books and also works with Gandhi Smriti.
After completing her schooling from Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in 2002, Richa graduated with a Bachelors in History from St. Stephen's College, Delhi. Chadda later went on to get a PG Diploma in Social Communication Media from Sophia College, Mumbai.
Chadda began her career as a model and then she moved to theater. She has performed plays touring in India and Pakistan. Later, she also received her training under Barry John.
She made her bollywood debut in the comedy drama film Oye Lucky Lucky Oye 2008. Inspite of favorable reviews in the debut film, her major breakthrough came only in 2012 with a two part series crime film Gangs of Wasseypur. She was awarded the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress for her talent in the first installment of the same film.
Her foray into main-stream cinema began with a supporting role in the 2013 hit film Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela. Despite the relatively short screen time, she was nevertheless praised for the conspicuous presence she imposed.
The film has been sighted as a new milestone in her career and through it she is said to have created a niche for herself in the Hindi film industry. Furthering her prowess, she enjoyed critical acclaim and a standing ovation at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival for her depiction of a girl in 'morality crisis' in the film Masaan (2015).
Richa Chadda is currently filming for Sudhir Mishra's version of the Devdas saga, entitled Aur Devdas as Paro and Aditi Rao Hydari's Chadramukhi. Filming for Pooja Bhatt's Cabaret, featuring Chadda as the female lead, started in June 2015. Chadda has signed to play in the biopic Sarabjit Singh as the wife of Sarabjit.
She had also done advertisements for Minute Maid, Tata Sky, Archies Gallery, Virgin Mobile and Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate.
